One of our most highly requested features from users is now live in Todoist Premium! Now it’s easy to duplicate one task or a series of tasks within any project, saving you the time and effort of manually creating each new one.
Quickly assign the same task to several teammates (e.g. “Send me your vacation requests.” or “Submit monthly expense reports”). Or duplicate a series of tasks that you need to complete often but not on a regular schedule (e.g. publishing a blog post or creating reports). Just adjust the time and date on your task copies and you’re good to go.
To copy a single task, open the task menu by clicking on the 3 dots to the right of the task – or by right clicking on the task – and select “Duplicate”. Note that when you duplicate a single parent task, all sub-tasks are automatically copied as well.
To copy several tasks at once, hold down the SHIFT key and select the range of tasks you want. Then click on “More…” in the task options at the top of the screen and select “Duplicate”. The new task copies will appear at the bottom of your project.
That’s it! Note that comments will not be copied so you can start fresh with your new tasks. The copy task feature is already available in the Todoist web and Mac apps and in our browser and gmail extensions. We’ll be adding it to our mobile apps in the future. The ability to duplicate tasks is a Premium feature.
